Sit N Go Strategy - Beginning, Middle, and End
Sit N Go tournaments appear to be an increasingly popular way of playing poker. For those who wish to advance as far as possible in a Sit N Go tournament and have hopes or intentions of reaching the final table, it is probably worthwhile noting that this type of game does have a beginning, middle and end. It should be pointed out that even right at the beginning of the game in order to aim high, one needs to take the end of the game into consideration.
SNG Start
At the beginning of a Sit N Go (SNG) tournament, there are often many inexperienced players along for the poker ride. This lack of experience can make the game difficult to predict and rather erratic. The main objective at this point is for players to gather as many chips as possible from opponents. On the one hand you wish to take chips from such inexperienced players as if you do not, there will be others who will. However, on the other hand, the less practiced or less knowledgeable players will probably be willing to take risks in order to be able to gain your chips. Even at these early stages, it is important to concentrate and keep focused on your aim to reach the final stages and not just to cash in and stay in the game longer than these inexperienced players. Experts suggest that it is perhaps recommended to take some calculated risk at this early stage and that hands containing high-aces and those with the potential of high implied odds present a good chance of gaining pots.
SNG Middle
In the middle of the SNG tournament, it is important to continue to gather as many chips as possible with the intention of becoming one of the final few in the tournament. It is advisable to keep in mind the whole time that there is a big difference in the amount of money received from cashing in at one of the various levels and becoming one of the players at the final level and then finishing in one of the top three places. Poker experts recommend that more attention needs to be paid to stack sizes at this part of the tournament. At this stage, hands with high implied odds become less advantageous. A significant point worth noting is that it is advisable to stay ahead of the blinds and antes. When you reach the bubble, do keep thoughts of the final table in your mind.
SNG End
Once you reach the final table of the SNG tournament, the difference in prize money at the various finalist places becomes more significant. As the end becomes closer, it should be kept in the player’s mind that completing the tournament in second or third place can mean a big difference in the prize winnings earned. At this stage, the stack size will often affect the way in which other players act at the final table. Many experts would say that this is the best time for positive and even aggressive play.
